This area of the Taos Arts Council website focuses on the world of 3D Art such as Sculpture and Woodcrafting in Taos and Northern New Mexico. Working with mediums such as stone, metal, wood, ceramic, plastics and other such materials, local area Sculptors and Woodworkers create many types of creations in this expanding art form. From Modern Art to figurines to assemblage and carvings - all the while exploring the relationship between mass and space, these artists and their communities add a rich three dimensional element to the wide spectrum of Taos Art.

Ceramic and Driftwood / 48 L x 12 H
Alma Quillian
I loved to draw before I could talk. The love expanded to include paint, clay, printmaking and almost any medium I could get my hands on. Eventually clay sculpture became my primary medium with painting being my second love. I grew up in Texas which is reflected in my art. The animals, plant life and color of the Southwest prevail in most of my work. I am also drawn to world mythology and religious figures and often use them in paintings and sculptures.
